The awards ceremony for the young winners of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) international short film competition organized by UNESCO Sound Week will be held during the Cannes Film Festival on May 15. at the Alexandre III Theatre in Cannes.
As part of the Cannes Cinéphiles program, the 20 nominated short films will be screened, and the winners of the Grand Prix and Jury Prize will receive their awards. Special Mention winners will also be honored. The 20 nominated short films will also be screened a few days earlier at the first International School Film Festival in Cannes, from May 4 to 6, 2025.
Inspired by a short original sound sequence lasting 1 minute 42 seconds, composed by French musician Thomas Dutronc, patron of Sound Week 2025, ASPnet students were invited to make a short video on the theme of listening to each other. Without adding sound, subtitles or dialogue, the short films must also respect the length of the sound sequence. This initiative challenges students to explore the world through sound. It encourages them to develop a unique perspective by sharpening their sense of hearing and creativity.
This 4th edition of the competition set a new record, with 121 videos submitted from 34 countries.
